Pialligo garbage fire to smoulder on to the end of the week

pialligo waste fire

ACT Fire & Rescue crews continued to work on extinguishing the fire overnight at Pialligo.

The pile of builders waste is gradually getting smaller to allow our firefighters to reach the main section of the fire.

Fire crews are continuing to work with the business and their on-site heavy machinery to pull apart the large rubbish pile and wet it down.

ACT Fire & Rescue estimates it is likely to take until the latter part of this week to fully extinguish the fire.

The size of the waste pile at the Canberra Concrete Recyclers has reduced considerably and Fire and Rescue Crews and Parks Brigade are continuing to work to extinguish the fire.

Two excavators are being used to pull the pile apart and that work is expected to continue for several days.

Fire Crews will remain at the site overnight.
