Police pursuit ends in Anzac Parade collision

ACT Policing has apprehended a 36-year-old man of no fixed abode after he failed to stop a vehicle as directed by police this afternoon (January 21).

About 3.55pm, police received a report from a member of the public that a black Holden vehicle was being driven dangerously around the suburb of Majura, toward Pialligo.

Police located the vehicle on Moreshead Drive and identified it as stolen. Police signaled for the vehicle to stop however, it accelerated along Moreshead Drive, onto Parkes Way.

A short time later the black Holden collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Anzac Parade and Parkes Way. The driver then fled the vehicle and police pursued on foot for a short distance before apprehending him.

The intersection of Anzac Parade and Parkes Way was closed and eastbound traffic diverted while the vehicles were removed. Roads were reopened about 5.15pm.

Investigations are ongoing.
