Michael Keaton in "Birdman"
“Birdman”… opening January 15.
OPENING JANUARY 8

“Dumb and Dumber To” (M)

TWO decades after the original “Dumb and Dumber”, the Farrelly brothers again join forces to tell how Lloyd (Jim Carrey) helps Harry (Jeff Daniels) to find his daughter. Then pursues her.

At Capitol, 6

“Taken 3” (unclassified)

LIAM Neeson doing what he’s done for years, caring for his daughter while tracking down and inflicting his personal brand of justice on the bad guys involved in killing his wife. Escapism rampant.

At Dendy and Capitol 6

OPENING JANUARY 15

“Birdman” (MA)

FAILED movie super-hero (Michael Keaton) tries to re-invent himself as a stage director while confronting a string of disasters.

At Dendy and Capitol 6

“Paper Planes” (G)

DYLAN (Ed Oxenbould) competes in the World Paper Plane Championship in Japan. The plot offers light-hearted humour without becoming too complex. Western Australia looks good.

At Dendy

“Unbroken” (M)

WRITTEN by the Coen brothers, directed by Angelina Jolie, about a former Olympic athlete (Jack O’Connell) surviving incarceration in a Japanese PoW camp. Sounds promising.

At Dendy and Capitol 6

Information correct at time of writing, but opening dates may vary.
