Queer fun at Tuggers – but beware

TUGGERANONG Arts Centre’s ‘Silver Linings’ program continues apace with the ‘queer’ segment of the festival this week.

Tonight, Wednesday November 4, as part of TAC’s Lakeside Literary Lounge series, Sydney author Benjamin Law will read from his award winning book “Gaysia”. If you’ve never hear Law talk, here’s your chance. Law  journeys through the queer cultures of Asia and  encounters surprising experiences, like Indian yoga classes designed to cure his homosexuality, and Chinese gays and lesbians who marry each other to please their parents.

Queer Literary Lounge with Benjamin Law, Silver Galley, Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s, 7-8pm, Wednesday November 4, inquiries to 6293 1443.

After that, there’s a screening of the queer film “Ma Vie En Rose”. Mysteriously, TAC invites us all to “get sparkly.” Free screening but bookings required to tuggeranongarts.com

Then this Friday November 6, two of Canberra’s longest running musical community groups, The Canberra Gay and Lesbian Qwire and In Full Swing, perform a show as part the regular ‘Lakeside at 5’ free music events.

Karaoke follows at 8pm, but BE WARNED, this is not Karaoke as you know it and comes with a ‘fruity language and suggestive commentary warning’.
