RSPCA looking to get cats desexed through spring

THE RSPCA ACT’s ‘Frisky Tom’ campaign has begun today with the goal of desexing 500 cats throughout the month of September.

RSPCA ACT along with Curtin, Inner South, Kent Street, Northside and Wanniassa Hills vet clinics are offering free male and female cat desexing for current Centrelink Health Care card and DVA card holders during the month of September. A 20% discount will also be offered for members of the general public.

Since the launch in August, the program has pre-booked over 60 appointments for cat desexings.

“This is the first of a planned three-year program,” said Chief Executive Officer, Tammy Ven Dange.

“In order to hit our goal of 500 desexings this year, the most important aspect is getting the word out that this service is available for free this month to eligible cat owners. We can make it available, but if they don’t book an appointment it’s useless.”

Free and discounted cat desexing is available to residents of the Canberra region, including neighbouring communities such as: Jerrabomberra, Queanbeyan, Googong and Karabar.

Anyone that wishes to take part in the program can book an appointment now at a participating vet clinic near them.
