ARTSOUND’S ‘60s night was a good example for those who love to reminisce; do it with like-minded people.

And the ‘60s is where today’s baby boomers find in their long-term memory bank an almost mystical place worth a nostalgic visit for the good, the bad and the OMG of the decade that foisted momentous change on a generation.

Gathering at the Eastlakes Football Club with the décor of album covers from the vinyl era on the walls and some patrons dressing in clobber of the era, the jukebox playlist was a source of many a sigh, cheers and plenty of singing to songs where we remembered the lyrics.

It was, of course, the era when mini-skirts, flares, Mary Quant, long hair and hippies were what distinguished us from the ‘50s. Sadly, most ‘60s bodies haven’t maintained that youthful look, except in our memories, but as ageing hippies they are a generation gone but not forgotten.

John Fanning, of ArtSound, in conversation and reminiscing about his years as a roadie to the British ‘60s stars, was a wonderful interlude to the harmonising of Credo, a band of blokes who remember the era and know the songs. A great night!
