Sports grants roll out

Shane Rattenbury

SHANE Rattenbury has announced details of 2.6 million in funding to 77 recipients from the 2015 Sport and Recreation Grants Program (SRGP) and Asset Repair and Maintenance Scheme (ARMS).

“The $2.1 million from SRGP assists organisations to deliver quality programs, services and facilities while also helping with costs associated with the delivery of core business activities in important areas such as insurance, facilities and administration.

“Additionally, the $500,000 in funding from ARMS provides financial assistance to organisations to undertake repairs and maintenance to their facilities, helping to ensure they provide both safe and high quality facilities.”

Some of the projects to be funded in 2015 include:

  • Cricket facility upgrades and equipment at Stirling, Chisholm and Kippax Ovals;
  • Tennis facility upgrades at Chisholm and Barton Tennis Clubs;
  • Flooring replacements at Canberra City and Woden Valley Gymnastics Clubs;
  • An electronic timing system for Gungahlin Little Athletics Club;
  • Water harvest system and carpet replacement at Hockey ACT, and
  • Road bollards for Cycling ACT events.
