Springtime fun with art at Belco

BELCONNEN Arts Centre welcomes back some regular tutors and some new tutors to offer a wide range of holiday arts activities this week young artists aged 5 to 12 years.

Activities include spring crafts, weaving, puppetry and print making with artists Leigh Walker, Vikky Parsley, Marianne Mettes and Jo Hollier.

They’ll need an accompanying adult for under 7’s and participants are advised to wear old clothes in preparation for some serious splattering, staff at the centre say.

Spring School Holiday Program, at Belconnen Arts Centre, Tuesday September 29 to Friday October 2. $15 per workshop plus booking fee, includes materials, accompanying adults free. Bookings essential to belconnenartscentre.com.au

Tuesday, 5-7 years from 10am-noon, 8 –12 years from 2-4pm.
SPRING INTO ART
with Leigh D Walker
Experiment, explore and create some fabulous springtime flower art with Scottish artist Leigh D Walker.

Wednesday 5-7 years from 10am-noon, 8 –12 years from 2-4pm.
BURI JAABAN DHUGA ( TEACHING CHILDREN STRONG)
With Vikki Parsley

Traditional techniques as used by Aboriginal women of South Eastern NSW for string and coil weaving.

Thursday 5-7 years from 10am-noon, 8 –12 years from 2-4pm.
INTRODUCTION TO PUPPETRY
with Marianne Mettes
Learn how to bring objects, materials and puppets to life!

Friday 5-7 years from 10am-noon, 8 –12 years from 2-4pm.
FABULOUS PRINTING FUN WITH FOAM
With Jo Hollier
Simply and safely making printable plates using Styrofoam and foam shapes mounted onto foam core. Plates will be printed using acrylic paints and water-based inks.
