Unlicensed DUI in a Prius

police

A 45-year-old Downer woman was taken into custody last night (Saturday 11 April) after police allege she refused to comply with a random breath test, then later spat on the officer attempting to seek a breath sample.

Police were on mobile patrol on Northbourne Avenue in Lyneham around 6.35pm when they observed a Toyota Prius being driven erratically.

Police attempted to stop the car before it turned into a Downer driveway where the woman driver fled from the car and refused a breath screening test three times. She was then taken to the city police station for a breath analysis, which she also refused. Checks also revealed the woman has not held a driver’s licence since 2006.

The woman will face court tomorrow (Monday, April 13) charged with failing to provide a breath sample, being an unlicensed driver, driving under the influence of alcohol, and common assault.
