Vote 1 for your favourite club

CLUBSACT has launched the inaugural People’s Choice Awards and invites Canberrans to vote for their favourite club.

admin-ajaxThe three awards – categorised as small, medium and large – will be  made in conjunction with the 2015 ClubsACT Community & Service Awards to be awarded in October. Voting opens on August 1 and closes on September 30.

And as an incentive to vote, one lucky participant will win a trip for two to Hamilton Island, valued at $4400, with five nights’ accommodation at the Reef View Hotel, including breakfast, transfers and economy airfares.

Voting can be made directly through some clubs, online at yourcanberraclubs.com.au or by a “LIKE” of a participating club’s Facebook profile picture image.

ClubsACT CEO Jeff House says the People’s Choice Award was about giving the community  members and non-members – the opportunity to recognise what particular clubs mean to them.|

“Canberra has been a club town since almost the very beginning of its history with some of our clubs almost as old as Canberra itself,” he says.

“All started from very humble beginnings and all have a special place in the life of our city.

“But regardless of their origin, every club is established to serve a purpose. Whether it be support for sport, ethnic communities or political parties, all clubs, big or small, exist to support and enhance different elements of the Canberra community. And, in that way, they are unique and invaluable.”

“The competition is also not just open to club members but all Canberrans and it is the local community’s opportunity to recognise the great work that clubs do.”

The competition and voting opens on August 1 and closes September 30.
