Leading academics, journalists and writers will discuss Australia’s prime ministers from Deakin to Gillard in this year’s Australian Prime Ministers Centre seminar.

Exploring the theme ‘Notes to self for our next female Prime Minister’, journalist Karen Middleton will share her experiences of reporting on Julia Gillard, Ms Gillard’s speechwriter Michael Cooney will discuss his book “The Gillard Project” and Professor David Denemark will analyse voter assessments of Australia’s first woman prime minister.

It’s packed out already, says Toni Dam, manager of the Australian Prime Ministers’ Centre at MOADOPH.

The APMC seminar features literary projects, not least ‘John Curtin’s life with poetry’ by his great grandson Dr Toby Davidson and the crossing of the paths of prime ministers, artists and granny killers by Canberra horror writer Kaaron Warren.

The event will also include the launch of “Prime ministers on prime ministers,” a display open to the public in the Prime Minister’s Suite from June 19 , featuring interviews by George Megalogenis of former prime ministers commenting on each other’s legacies.

MOADOPH director Daryl Karp says the next 12 months will see an increased focus on online audiences for the APMC.

The APMC seminar 2015 is a ticketed event open to the general public, but the 2015 event is fully booked.
