fire brigade

A young girl has pulled to safety by firefighters after falling more than 2 metres down a manhole.

When firefighters arrived they climbed down into the pit to rescue the 10-year-old.

She had been walking along O’Reilly Street in Macgregor when the lid gave way.

An Emergency Triple Zero (000) call was made just before 2:30pm.

Along with ACT Fire & Rescue, the ACT Ambulance Service attended the incident and assessed the young girl. No injuries were reported. She was taken home by her father.
