Dreadful numbers for Canberra hospital

jeremy hanson

JEREMY Hanson says the 2015 Public Hospital Report Card published by the AMA today shows thatthe ACT health system is in desperate need of more support, as yet again the ACT records the worst results in the country.

“Even more concerning, the trend for some important indicators are getting worse, not better,” Jeremy said.

“The most recent report shows that:

  • The ACT is the worst in the country for urgent patients in emergency department.
  • The ACT is failing to meet their targets in the emergency departments.
  • The ACT is the worst in the country for elective surgery patients, and getting worse.

“This situation has been going on for some time and is simply unacceptable. What this shows, without doubt, is that Andrew Barr is not making health a priority, and he is not providing enough resources to the health system.

“I know the Barr government is blaming everyone but themselves, but frankly they’re spending a billion dollars on light rail at the worst possible time. I implore Mr Barr to make health his priority, not the tram.

“The people of the ACT deserve better, and so do the staff and patients of our health system,” concluded Mr Hanson.
