Yummy high tea without the guilt!

WHEN you think “high tea”, you don’t always think organic, dairy free, gluten free and refined-sugar free, now do you?

With this Saturday’s first Divine Rawspirations High Tea Event you can, and should, because that’s what’s on offer, both sweet and savoury.

At the event, owner of Rawspirations, Sabrina Muscat, will launch her first e-recipe book on sweets. And she’ll be joined by Therese Kerr, the founder of The Divine Company (chemical-free beauty products) who was voted one of Australia’s Top 50 Most Influential Women of 2015, to talk about healthy living.

Both Sabrina and Therese have had to cope with endometriosis, which is when the membrane that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. It’s a painful condition affecting between 25 and 50 per cent of infertile women.

“I hadn’t been well for some time, and had all but given up on having children when I was given the news by my doctor that I had Stage 4 endometriosis,” says Sabrina. ‘

“Once I got over the initial shock, I decided to forego the option of taking a six-month course of a hormone therapy and type of chemotherapy, because there was no guarantee I would have a baby anyway. Instead I followed my heart and concentrated on what was bothering my body.”

With her naturopath’s guidance, Sabrina began to eat mostly raw and vegan organic foods.

“Six months later I was pregnant,” she says, “and I now have a beautiful baby boy.”

While ill, Sabrina found solace in reaching out to others through her Rawspirations Instagram page, which now has more than 74,500 followers. With her ongoing studies in nutritional science, Sabrina is more often than not found in the kitchen, whipping up mouth-watering and healthy dishes and desserts. She continually posts her recipes and food tips on the Rawspirations website and through social media.

Sabrina’s recipe collection grew and grew and her social media fans cried out for more. A recipe book was a natural next step. This one will focus on sweets, and include chewy caramel and choc custard cups, raw white chocolate and blueberry mini cheesecakes, salted caramel slice and raw vegan choc mint slice. Who could ask for anything more?

The Divine Rawspirations High Tea Event is at Double Shot, Deakin, from 3pm, on Saturday, April 9. Bookings to rawspirations.com
