GOOD news that Canberra baritone Don Bemrose plays the co-lead role of the young lover Tarka in the new film opera “Shaped by Trees”, created by Amsterdam-based composer Konstantin Koukias, with libretto by Biasino William Pezzimenti. Bemrose is of Gungarri descent and is considered to be Australia’s foremost male Aboriginal classical opera singer. Details at filmoperashapedbytrees.com

THOSE spirited gals at Feminartsy and the Fearless Initiative are presenting an evening of women in comedy, with stand-up performances from Juliet Moody, Cathy Crowley and Codie Bell. There will be a panel discussion about the status and experiences of, well, women in comedy. Part of the proceeds from the evening will go to supporting survivors of domestic violence.
