The event also attracted more than 20 professional teachers for 380 heats, 1501 entries and 293 guests at Saturday night’s Crown Ball in The Canberra Southern Cross Club, Woden.
The overall winner for the weekend was Lisa Greenwell from the Arthur Murray Studio, Brookvale, NSW, taking home the ASDAC Amateur Crown. As well, the Top Teacher award went to Dani Mcleod from Arthur Murray in Castle Hill, NSW.
Local husband and wife duo Matt Withers and Emma Coughlan won first place in the Three-Dance Crown Amateur Couple’s Open Silver Smooth category. (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot)
‘So You Think You Can Dance USA’ & 4 times undefeated US Open Ballroom Champion and judge Toni Redpath’s workshop was a massive highlight for all competitors focused attention on technique – posture, frame and footwork. Canberra’s Danzon Dance Studio will be hosting Redpath this week for individual lessons and extra workshops.
