Are you ready for the Easter Steam Spectacular at the Railway Museum?

THE Canberra Railway Museum is launching its Easter Steam Extravaganza on an even bigger and better scale.

There will be family steam train trips, miniature railway rides, carnival attractions and of course the Easter Bunny.

Visitors can enter a time tunnel taking a ride in a train pulled by a classic steam locomotive built 113 years ago.

It will depart the Canberra Railway Museum (near Kingston Foreshore) to Queanbeyan and return. Trips will run on the Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Easter at 9.45am, 12.25pm and 2.30pm.

At the Museum there will be the opportunity to enjoy a classic Devonshire Tea in the luxury dining car or settle on a sausage sizzle in the picnic ground.

Train lovers large and small can live the dream climbing up into the cab of the mammoth steam loco 6029 – proudly named the ‘City of Canberra’.

For the more adventurous, short cab rides in steam loco 3016 will be able to be purchased.

On the Easter Saturday night a steam train to Bungendore will pull beautifully restored heritage carriages.

Passengers will have their choice of hors d’oeuvres prepared by a master chef, or a full three course meal.
