BORN and bred in Canberra, dancer Eliza Sanders now lives and works in NZ. She’ll be here in two solo shows directed by brother Charles for the House of Sand theatre group. The shows, “Pedal” and “Castles”, are described as: “A hive of strangely interconnected questions and musings, from the silly to the sublime”. At QL2 theatre, Gorman Arts Centre, October 6-8. IT’S certainly wonderful news that 82-year-old dancer and choreographer Elizabeth Cameron Dalman will soon tour Europe in a contemporary version of “Swan Lake” directed by MKD Dance director Michael Keegan-Dolan, who advertised on Facebook for “a powerful presence and ideally she should have long white hair”. But, oh, what a pity ABC News neglected to mention that she is currently “CityNews” Artist of the Year, preferring to cast back in history for her honours.

IN “The World Around Us”, three well-known Canberra artists, Eva Henry, Stuart Marshall and Isla Patterson are exhibiting watercolours, oils and pastels, landscapes, seascapes, people, plants and flowers. At Ginninderra Schoolhouse Gallery, Gold Creek, Nicholls. Opening by Shane Breynard, 3pm, Sunday, October 2, all welcome. It runs until October 30.

“DANCE till you drop” is the motto for “Tango in the Spring”, featuring uninterrupted, high-quality social dancing over four days on the long weekend – Friday night to Monday afternoon. At the Albert Hall, September 30 to October 3. All details and bookings to tangointhespring.org.au

THE Gundaroo Music Festival punches above its weight. Now in its fourth year, it will bring together many classy acts, not least Russell Morris, Mitch Anderson, James Southwell Band and vocal group The Idea of North. Founded as the dream of Scott Windsor, who died last year after a battle with Motor Neurone Disease, the festival raises funds for specialised communication equipment. MAKING its debut in Canberra, the Czech and Slovak Film Festival will showcase a range of classic and contemporary action and animated films. At the Arc Cinema, NFSA, Friday, October 7-9. Bookings to nfsa.gov.au
