THERE are distinct signs of frivolity over at Teatro Vivaldi with the Christmas season close upon us.
A fast-paced little play, it’s a kind of 19th-century version of “The Odd Couple,” dealing with the unconventional living arrangement of two bachelors.
In this case, the odd couple are two of Canberra’s best known funny men, Graham Robertson playing “Mr Box” and Jim Adamik as his counterpart “Mr Cox”. You’ll get the general tone of the show when you know that their landlady, played by Elaine Noon, is “Mrs Bouncer”.
Briefly “Mrs Bouncer” lets out the room by day to “Mr Cox”, who is a printer, and by night to “Mr Box” who is a hatter, hoping that never the twain shall meet but they do, and the fun begins.
It sounds like just the right show for this time of the year.
