Behold the fleece of Chris the sheep

RSPCA ACT in partnership with the National Museum of Australia has launched the display of ‘Chris’ the sheep’s record -breaking fleece.

In September 2015, RSPCA ACT inspectors and staff rescued a sheep now known as ‘Chris’ who was found wandering in a nature reserve with years of heavy wool covering his body. Once sheared, Chris’s fleece was declared the heaviest on record at 41.1kgs.

The fleece has been acquired by the National Museum of Australia for its National Historical Collection.

The fleece will be displayed at RSPCA ACT’s Weston shelter from today.
