Big changes to Majura Parkway traffic arrangements

THE ACT Government is advising road users of changed traffic arrangements to roads surrounding the Majura Parkway.

From Wednesday 17 February 2016 the following new arrangements will be in place:

  • New traffic lights at the intersection of Monaro Highway and Morshead Drive will be operational. This signalised intersection will allow for traffic to use the Monaro Highway northbound exit over Dairy Flat Bridge to turn right onto Morshead Drive (eastbound). Left turn movements from Monaro Highway onto Morshead Drive (westbound/city-bound) will be maintained. While the new traffic lights will be operational, minor configuration changes will be made to the intersection as the Majura Parkway project nears completion.
  • Traffic lights controlling the crossover intersection on Monaro Highway will be removed. This will allow southbound traffic to flow freely from Majura Parkway onto Monaro Highway. As a result, northbound traffic will no longer be able to crossover from Monaro Highway to Sylvia Curley Bridge and onto Pialligo Avenue.

Motorists travelling northbound from Fyshwick to the airport and Queanbeyan are encouraged to use either the Fairbairn Avenue exit off Majura Parkway or Morshead Drive exit off Monaro Highway.

Southbound traffic turning from Morshead Drive or Pialligo Avenue onto Sylvia Curley Bridge will be maintained.

Northbound and southbound traffic over the new Molonglo River bridge (northern structure), and all entry and exit arrangements at Fairbairn Avenue, remain unchanged.

Signage on site will assist motorists and other road users with the changed arrangements.
