Carjacking in the Hyatt car park

police

ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses following the aggravated robbery of a vehicle outside the Hyatt Hotel in Yarralumla early this morning (Saturday, 16 July).

About 12.10am, the owner of a Red Mazda 3 hatch back bearing Queensland registration 194VNG was parked in the Hyatt Hotel car park.

The owner of the vehicle noticed a male standing next to the vehicle. Thinking it was a staff member of the hotel he lowered his window to speak to the male.

The male demanded the driver exit the vehicle threatening him with a knife. The driver complied with the demands and the male then fled in the vehicle heading towards Flynn Avenue.

The alleged male offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, had stubble on his face and is about 172cm (5’8”) tall. He was wearing a dark coloured top with a hoodie.

If you witnessed this incident or you see this stolen vehicle, do not approach the vehicle. Contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the ACT Crime Stoppers website. Please quote reference 5986631. Information can be provided anonymously.
