WE’RE so used to seeing the ebullient Roland Peelman, director of Canberra International Music Festival, conductor of “Voices in the Forest’ and 25 year long director of The Song Company that it’s easy to forget he is also a pianist.
Not for long.
Tomorrow in Wesley Music Centre’s “Wednesday Lunchtime Live” recital, Peelman will take to the piano Music by Enrique Granados, Alberto Ginastera, Maurice Ravel, Jack Body and the late Roger Smalley.
Recipient of the NSW Award for “the most outstanding contribution to Australian Music by an individual’ in 2005 and named musician of the year by the Sydney Morning Herald in 2006, the Belgium-born artist has a considerable international career too.
You’d better get to Wesley early, this recital is likely to be packed.
