Eisteddfod’s Bands and orchestras – extraordinary marathon

AN extraordinary marathon of music-making is underway as the Australian National Eisteddfod’s Bands and Orchestras Division for 2016 runs on over the weekend at Llewellyn Hall, confirming Canberra’s reputation as a centre of live, first-class musicianship and community involvement in it.

You can just turn up at the Hall and buy tickets at the door to see our top musicians perform.

Everyone is there, from the venerable Tuggeranong Valley Concert Band and Ginninderra Wind Orchestra to the more youthful Merici College Junior Band and Radford College Gershwin Concert Band.

Today, Friday, May 20, begins with an additional performance – Choir at 5.30pm, continuing at 6pm with B 003 Open Concert Bands Grade C, adjudication and presentation of awards at 7pm, then continues at 7.20pm with B 004 & B 007 Open Concert Bands Grade B & A and Open Brass Bands Grade B & A, adjudication and presentation of awards at 10.40pm.

Tomorrow, Saturday May 21:

ACT High School Bands – Intermediate (Early placement) 8am, adjudication and presentation of awards 9.30am.

B 164 and B165 16 Years & Under Concert Bands Grade B and Grade A continues at 9.50am with B 183, B 184 & B 185 18 Years & Under Concert Bands Grade C, Grade B & Grade A, adjudication and presentation of awards 10.55am, then continues at 11.30am adjudication and presentation of awards at 2pm

BPS 2, BPS 4 and B 168 Primary School Age Orchestras & Primary/High School Age Orchestras& 16 Years & Under String Ensembles – Llewelyn Hall, 3pm, adjudication and presentation of awards, 4.05pm.

B 166 16 Years & Under Orchestras, 4.15pm, adjudication and presentation of awards, 5.15pm.

B 187 & B 186 18 Years & Under String Orchestras and 18 Years & Under Orchestras 5.30pm, adjudication and presentation of awards, 6.25pm.

B 011, B 009 & B010 Open String Ensembles, Open String Orchestras & Open Orchestras 6.40pm, adjudication and presentation of awards, 7.40pm.

Sunday, May 22

ACT High School Bands – Beginner, 9am, adjudication and presentation of awards at 10am.

ACT High School Bands – Intermediate (Session A) 10.15am, adjudication and presentation of awards, 11.30am.

ACT High School Bands – Intermediate (Session B), 12.20pm, adjudication and presentation of awards, 2pm.

Final event:

ACT High School Bands – Advanced and ACT High School/College Bands Advanced, 2.20pm, adjudication and presentation of awards, 3pm.

National Eisteddfod’s Bands and Orchestras Division for 2016. All performances take place at Llewelyn Hall ANU School of Music, Acton, tickets at the door.
