First prison escapee caught

ACT Policing has located 28-year-old man Patrick McCurley, who escaped The Alexander Maconochie Centre on Friday (2 September 2016).

About 5.00pm this evening (Sunday 4 September), police received a report from a member of the public who had seen Mr McCurley in Weston Creek, reportedly driving a blue Suzuki Swift.

Police were able to locate the vehicle, and made attempts to intercept it.

About 6.00pm police successfully stopped the vehicle on Majura Road, Majura and arrested Mr McCurley.

Police would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter.

ACT Policing will continue to work with NSW Police to locate Jacob MacDonald, who also escaped from Alexander Maconochie Centre on Friday.

Police urge anyone with information in relation to the whereabouts of Mr MacDonald to contact ACT Policing Operations immediately on 131 444, and to remember to not approach him.
