Further burns around Canberra

fire

THE ACT Parks and Conservation Service is advising that two prescribed burns will take place in the ACT today, with another scheduled tomorrow, weather permitting.

Today a 32 hectare prescribed burn will commence at Mount Wanniassa in the Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserve near Erindale Drive, Fadden.

A two hectare prescribed burn will also commence today near the Hall Cemetery and Wallaroo Road, Hall. This ecological burn will promote growth of native flora while also suppressing weed species, helping to increase biodiversity.

Tomorrow, Thursday, a 19 hectare prescribed burn will commence near the Canberra Nature Park in Red Hill, west of Gowrie Drive, Deakin.

Yesterday’s prescribed burn at Kambah is now in the patrol phase and crews will continue to monitor for any signs of smoke or flames.
