House fire in Kaleen

FIREFIGHTERS have this afternoon extinguished a house fire in Kaleen.

ACT Fire & Rescue was alerted to the incident in Callabonna Street at 1:03pm and responded with three fire pumpers, breathing apparatus support van and a commander.

Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames, containing damage to the kitchen and the roof space immediately above it.

Firefighters are now ventilating smoke from the building.

Nobody was home at the time of the incident.

The cause is unknown at this stage, but will be investigated.
