Jamison cafe evacuation

fire

ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) have responded to an incident in a cafe at the Jamison Shopping Centre, Bowman Street Macquarie.

Crews were alerted by a call to Emergency Triple Zero (000) just after 9:52am, with reports of the smell and sight of smoke from the air-conditioning system.

Store owners turned off the system and around 50 people evacuated while firefighters investigated the cause, which appeared to be an electrical fault.

People have now returned to the premises.

Two pumpers, breathing apparatus support unit and commander attended.
