Kurdish protest comes to the heart of Canberra

IT IS not every day that the convoluted politics of Turkey comes to the middle of Canberra.

At first mistaken for a curtain raiser to the Multicultural Festival in fact Civic today saw a protest by Kurds against the actions of the Turkish government.

A reasonably large police presence escorted them and the very anglo observers in suits had all the air of spooks.

There were almost as many flags representing Kurdish factions as there were protestors. Your correspondent was particularly thrilled to see the Union of Communists of Kurdistan (YKK) fluttering over London Circuit with lots of support also for the YPG.

Having flown the flags in Civic they were off to Parliament House.
