ANDREW Barr says a re-elected Labor government will build a new nurse-led walk-in health centre in Canberra’s inner north, taking the number of new centres to three across the city, and creating a network of five centres in total.

“Healthcare has always been a priority for ACT Labor,” Andrew said.

“That’s why we’ve already built two free walk-in centres in Belconnen and Tuggeranong, which saw more than 30,000 patients last year. And it’s why our 10 year plan for health will see us build a network of five of these services, opening three more in Gungahlin, Weston Creek, and now the inner north, if re-elected.

“Labor’s candidates in the Kurrajong electorate have been hard at work advocating for health services in the inner north, and this commitment today is testament to their advocacy for the local community. Labor candidates will deliver for Kurrajong.

“While Labor is focussed on expanding the nurse-led walk-in health centre model, the Liberals would take health care in Canberra backwards by forcing people to pay more for health care.

“Labor’s walk-in health centres offer free one-off advice and treatment for people with minor illness and injury. No appointments are necessary and the centres are open every day of the year from 7:30am to 10pm.”
