Late night carjacking in Wanniassa

ACT Policing is investigating an aggravated robbery which occurred in Wanniassa early this morning (Saturday, April 30).

About 1.25am police attended the front car park of the Erindale Leisure Centre (adjacent to McBryde Crescent) following reports of an aggravated robbery.

A male and female were sitting in their parked vehicle when they noticed two offenders coming towards the vehicle with flash lights.

One offender believed to be armed with a gun ordered both the victim’s out of the car before taking a wallet and phone. The two offenders left the scene in the victim’s vehicle, a 1997 silver Nissan Bluebird.

Around 4am the stolen vehicle was located burnt out at the underpass on Johnson Drive, Calwell.

The two offenders were approximately 178cm (5’10”) tall. They were both dressed in all black, with bandanas and hoodies covering their faces.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Please quote reference 5954785. Information can be provided anonymously.

Police remind people they should not report crime information via Facebook and Twitter pages.
