Liberals promise a Catholic school in Molonglo

Liberal MLA Steve Doszpot.

STEVE Doszpot says a Canberra Liberals Government will provide land for a new Catholic school in Molonglo.

“It’s estimated there will be over 3500 primary students and more than 2000 secondary students living in the new Molonglo area by 2021. However, no land has been offered for a Catholic school site by the ACT Government, despite a quarter of ACT students being taught in the Catholic education system,” Steve said.

“If elected, the Canberra Liberals will work closely with the Catholic Education Office (CEO), taking into account current and future growth needs and will provide a site for a new school.

“This commitment is in addition to our previous announcements to provide:

  • $60 million in capital upgrades for schools all over Canberra.
  • $17.5 million to support children with disabilities in the non-government sector.
  • $7.5 million for our specialised schools for those children with the most challenging needs.
  • $7.5 million to install flashing lights for safety outside all Canberra schools.

“Unlike ACT Labor, the Canberra Liberals believe in providing critical education infrastructure ahead of time. A Canberra Liberals government will be able to afford this extra support, and more, because we will not build the multi-billion dollar tram,” Mr Doszpot concluded.
