McKellar jewellery heist

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a burglary that occurred at a residence in McKellar on Wednesday, July 20.

Between 11am and 1pm a residence in Sowden Street was broken into with a substantial amount of property stolen.

Amongst the stolen property was a cream coloured metal safe and numerous pieces of jewellery.

Police received a report that a Caucasian male believed to be in his 20’s small to medium build and wearing a beanie was seen in the area around the time of the burglary.

AFP Forensics attended the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

ACT Policing reminds members of the community that it is an offence to knowingly receive stolen property. If you are approached by someone selling suspected stolen goods, contact police.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the burglary, saw any suspicious behaviour or have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 5988617. Information can be provided anonymously.

Police remind people they should not report crime information via Facebook and Twitter pages.
