AN 1850s flour mill, a thriving slow-food farm, properties steeped in history and newer gardens are among the attractions of this year’s Braidwood Open Gardens, on the weekend of October 15-16.
The event, a fundraiser for Braidwood’s not-for-profit preschool, will see seven gardens and a historic property open their gates to provide visitors with a rare glimpse into the town’s origins and gardening culture.
The properties – Millpond Farm, Durham Hall, Linden, Wynlen House, Green Farm, Tudor Valley and Deua Tin Huts – will be open 10am-4pm both days. The Bedervale property will only open on Sunday.
There will be an art exhibition, vintage car display and Landcare talks at Millpond Farm, refreshments at Durham Hall and Deua Tin Huts, guided tours of the Wynlen House produce gardens and Sunday tours of Bedervale Homestead and its collection of National Trust-listed furniture and contents.
