Police warn of a scam pretending to be from them

police warning

ACT Policing are warning that it’s not them sending out poorly worded demands to click on malicious links.

We’ve been receiving quite a few calls from the public in relation to an email that’s doing the rounds.

This email purports to be from the AFP, serving a subpoena on the recipient. There are several links in the email which may be malicious.

Don’t click on them.

Just delete the email from your Inbox and Deleted folder.

The AFP does not issue subpoenas via email.

If you’re concerned you’ve responded to one of these emails, you can report it through the ACORN (www.acorn.gov.au) or to SCAMwatch (www.scamwatch.gov.au)
