Queanbeyan-Palerang regional council to hold a meeting

council chambers

AN email for the former Queanbeyan Council press man Ricky Tozer picqued our curiosity this morning.

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council will hold an Extraordinary Meeting on Thursday 19 May. The meeting will be held at the Bungendore Council Chambers, 10 Majara St Bungendore and will commence at 5.30pm. The Business Paper for the meeting will be available on Wednesday 18 May.

This seemed odd. Surely the merged Local Government Area had no council, having been placed under the administration of Queanbeyan Mayor Tim Overall?

On questioning the nature of the extraordinary meeting was revealed:

Will be just the same as the normal council meetings, however instead of 9 or 10 councillors it will just be the administrator considering staff reports.
