ACT Policing have returned a stolen mobility scooter following search warrants in Monash yesterday (Tuesday, 10 May).
The cream coloured mobility scooter was stolen from a 79-year-old man at Goodwin Retirement Village on Friday (6 May). She had already started to look at reviews of walkers with seats since she couldn’t afford to replace it. But thankfully everything worked out in the end.
About 4pm yesterday, members of Tuggeranong patrol executed a search warrant on a residence and recovered the stolen property.
One juvenile male was arrested at the scene and a second is assisting police with enquiries.
Officer-in-Charge Tuggeranong Police Station, Station Sergeant Chris Meagher said it’s particularly disturbing that our elderly are becoming victims of crime.
“We are actively targeting offenders who think they can prey on our most vulnerable,” Station Sergeant Meagher said.
Police are urging people to look out for their elderly neighbours and report suspicious activity to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
Police remind people they should not report crime information via Facebook and Twitter pages.
