‘Rambo’ smashes three cop cars, a police motorbike and more…

A 34-year-old Kambah man is facing court for ramming a police vehicle and motorcycle before fleeing from police at residence in Livingston Avenue, Kambah on Sunday afternoon (November 6).

He was not pursued.

policeThis morning (Tuesday, November 8), police were called to a residence in Chisholm following a report of a suspicious vehicle where police identified the man from Sunday.

Due to concerns for public and police officer safety significant police resources, including Specialist Response Group members, were deployed to Chisholm and the Caroline Chisholm School and Gilmore Primary School took precautionary measures during the operation to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The man again attempted to evade police, this time ramming a police officer, two police cars, two other vehicles and colliding with an ActewAGL substation causing an electricity outage.

The man was eventually arrested and charged with eight offences relating to Sunday including failing to stop motor vehicle for police; aggravated furious/reckless/dangerous driving; two counts of destroy, damage Commonwealth property; drive while disqualified and use of an offensive weapon to avoid apprehension.

Acting superintendent of Traffic Operations Susan Ball said that police would not tolerant the ramming of police officers and vehicles by offenders.

“Drivers who attempt to flee from police are endangering both police and the Canberra community,” she said.

Investigations were ongoing regarding today’s incident with further charges pending.
