ACTING Director Capital Works Design and Delivery, Ben McHugh, says the next stage of works for the Sullivans Creek path upgrade will soon start with the installation of a raised pedestrian crossing on Goodwin Street, Lyneham, to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

“The $1.5 million improvements to the existing walking and cycling network along Sullivans Creek are part of the ACT Government’s commitment to encouraging active travel,” Ben said.

“The works follow on from the construction of two raised pedestrian crossings on Masson and Condamine Streets, Turner, with path widening along priority sections between Barry Drive and Wattle Street to be built in coming months.

“The path will be more attractive for users to consider combining some form of exercise into their daily routine in Canberra’s inner north, and will help manage Canberra’s growth, alleviate congestion and protect liveability in the area.

“The works will require temporary road closures on Goodwin Street, Lyneham.

“Goodwin Street will be closed from Wattle Street to the driveway of house number 26 on Goodwin Street from 7 am Thursday 7 July to 6 am Monday 11 July 2016.

“ACTION route 8 will be diverted to via Wattle Street during construction. For further information contact ACTION on 13 17 10 or visit action.act.gov.au

Barriers, warning and diversion signs will be erected on site.
