Suspicious fire at the Stuart Flats

ACT Policing is investigating a suspicious fire that occurred at Stuart Flats in Griffith last night (Saturday, 18 June).

Just before midnight, ACT Fire and Rescue alerted police to the fire which consumed two flats inside the Light Street complex.

The building was evacuated and a number of people were taken to The Canberra Hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

The incident was handed over to police last night and a crime scene was established.

AFP Forensics will attend the scene this morning, with investigators looking into the cause of the fire.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 5975319. Information can be provided anonymously.

Police remind people they should not report crime information via Facebook and Twitter pages.
