Virgins and veterans – Aussie music line-up for 2017 Summernats

WE’RE PRETTY sure this is arts-biz,  as The Street Machine “Summernats” announces the music line up for its 30th birthday, to take place at EPIC from January 5 – 8.

The anticipated 100,000 or more punters from around Australia will be treated to hip-hop act Drapht, supported by Sydney hip-hop duo Spit Syndicate for  the opening gig on Friday,  followed by indie rockers Thirsty Merc and rock’n’roll band Airbourne in their first Australian show since 2013.

summernatsDrapht (Paul Reid), who played at the Summernats Chrome Jubilee in 2012, describes the typical audience as “fun loving interesting crowd and a one of a kind experience.” But Thirsty Merc has it all ahead of them and singer Rai Thistlethwayte says, “We’re all Summernats virgins, but we’ve heard plenty of good things about the festival and it’s cool to be part of their big thirtieth birthday.”

Spit Syndicate’s Nick Lupi sums it up this way— “If there’s one thing we love it’s a raucous crowd and we’ve been told the Summernats is pretty damn wild.”
