MALCOLM Turnbull has just announced a cabinet reshuffle.

“CityNews” will have the full list shortly but for Canberra the big news is that our own Senator Zed Seselja has been appointed Assistant Minister for Social Services and Multicultural Affairs.

UPDATE: Jeremy Hanson has welcomed his old boss’s promotion:

Today I congratulate Senator Zed Seselja on his appointment as new Assistant Minister for Social Services and Multicultural Affairs under the new Turnbull Coalition Government, Leader of the Opposition Jeremy Hanson said today.

“Zed’s appointment means for the first time the Canberra Liberals will be represented in the Federal Ministry. It’s great news for Canberrans and I look forward to working with Zed, as I have over many years, in delivering for Canberra,” Mr Hanson said.

“Having been leader of the Canberra Liberals for two local elections before entering the Senate, Zed is well acquainted with Canberra’s needs and he’ll be well placed to lobby for the ACT as part of the Federal Ministry.

“Again I congratulate Zed and look forward to working collaboratively with him in delivering for Canberra,” Mr Hanson concluded.
