A HUGE gala is slated for tomorrow night’s (September 5) Canberra premiere of the film, “Rip Tide”, at the National Film and Sound Archive.

As reported earlier in “CityNews”, the film, which involves local company SilverSun Pictures, is expected to be a ground-breaking event for the local cinema industry, after SilverSun Pictures was selected by the Steve Jaggi Company to be part of the team producing the movie.

Directed by Rhiannon Bannenburg, “Rip Tide” a focuses on the character Cora, played by American actress Debby Ryan, who, after a humiliating modelling incident, heads for a holiday in Australia, somewhere around Kiama. It doesn’t quite work out the way she thinks until romance sparks with Tom, played by Canberra-born actor Andrew Creer. Which means Cora must make big choices in her life.

“Rip Tide”, with an estimated budget of $3 million plus, is scheduled for a 100+ screen release and is a significant turning point for SilverSun.

SilverSun’s producer/director and re-recording mixer for “Riptide”, Rohan Taylor says: “We handled complete post production services, which is everything that happens after the camera stops rolling until the film hits the screen… and it was all managed from right here at our purpose-built facilities in Watson.”

SilverSun’s managing director and post production supervisor for the film, Andrew Marriott says: “We were on set from the first day of shooting in Kiama, with an editor and assistant, editing while the footage was being filmed given the short turnaround for the film.”

This is seventh feature film SilverSun Pictures has worked on, and the largest yet and according to Laggi, its work cements SilverSun’s reputation as one of the best post production houses in the country. The ACT government invested production funds into the film, helping to employ dozens of Canberrans in cast and crew positions.
