CANBERRA’S Pigeonhole Theatre is chosen to represent Australia at the 16th Mondial du Théâtre in Monaco this August, but with their crowdfunding project due to expire in seven days and only about 60 per cent of the target achieved, they need the support of the ACT public.
It’s a feather in the cap of the Canberra region theatre community and a showcase for five of our top actresses, Amy Dunham, Emma Wood, Jenna Roberts, Karen Vickery and Liz Bradley, who play the very first actresses on the English stage in “Playhouse Creatures” by April de Angelis.
The production, which premiered at The Q in Queanbeyan last year, has won accolades and prizes all around, but it will still need to pay its way and happily, the Canberra Theatre Centre cultural facilities corporation are hosting a benefit night at The Playhouse on August 12.
Successful applicants like Pigeonhole have to pay their fares to get to Monte Carlo, but once they arrive they’ll have four days of accommodation and meals in Monaco. Entry to the performances is free of charge for all involved and there will be a festival “village” so that participants can mingle and take part in special events.
“Playhouse Creatures”, benefit, at the Playhouse, August 12. Bookings to canberratheatrecentre.com.au or 6275 2700.
