The shock death of gold and silver-maker Robert Foster on the road to Bungendore just over a year ago has inspired Gay’s botanically-themed sterling silver jewellery exhibition, “Botanica Eclectica”, which she has dedicated to the late artist, whom she describes as “my dear friend and inspiration”.
Gays says: “Robert and I shared a great love of nature and he was a true natural scientist who had an extraordinary curiosity and passion for the wonders of the natural world… His loss has forced me to stop, slow down and take in the minutiae and exquisite beauty in the world around us.”
The jewellery in her exhibition attempts to capture in time the various stages of fertility and reproduction in the plant world.
“Botanica Eclectica”, at X Gallery,32 Gibraltar Street, Bungendore, until August 14.
