ACT Health reaccredited for three years

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Meegan Fitzharris says significant work has taken place over the past few months.
FOLLOWING the assessment of Canberra Hospital and ACT Health between July 3 to 5, ACT Health has been reaccredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) for the next three years.

The decision from the ACHS follows a survey assessing ACT Health against 33 core actions under the national standards, which initially weren’t met in March this year.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Meegan Fitzharris says significant work has taken place over the past few months to improve the organisation’s culture.

“As it moves towards its transition into two organisations on October 1, ACT Health is focused on building a cohesive, values-based environment where collaboration can thrive,” she says.

Minister for Mental Health Shane Rattenbury says the report also found that the Mental Health Division had “demonstrated outstanding improvements”, and were “applauded for adopting, innovative approaches to creating a sustainable system of the production of timely patient discharge summaries”.
