TUGGERANONG Arts Centre has the provocative exhibition “Another Day in Paradise”, featuring paintings by executed Bali Nine drug smuggler and artist Myuran Sukumaran, along with provocative works by Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Megan Cope, Jagath Dheerasekara, Khaled Sabsabi and Matthew Sleeth. As well, stencil artist Luke Cornish (ELK), will preview new works focussed on the streets of Syria in “No Place like Home”. Both at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre, March 2 to April 29.

ANCA Gallery has “Slideshow”, works reimagining holiday images of a stranger’s travels to Hong Kong, Japan and Indonesia in a bygone era by Hannah Bath, Karen Golland, Elly Kent, Heidi Lefebvre, Rose Montebello and Ali Jane Smith. Curated by Patsy Payne, the show will be opened by Christine Clark at 6pm this Wednesday, February 28. At 1 Rosevear Street, Dickson, February 28 to March 18. Poet and “Slideshow” artists Ali Jane Smith will also be reading a poem at 1.30pm, Sunday, March 4.

WAGGA Wagga artist and ANU School of Art graduate, Elaine Camlin, is exhibiting new prints, drawing and objects in “Micro-Worlds: Interpretations & Observations of Organic Forms”, at Form Studio and Gallery, 1/ 30 Aurora Avenue, Queanbeyan, opening 6pm, Thursday, March 1. Artist talk, 2pm, Sunday, March 11.

THREE new exhibitions are opening at M16 Artspace: “Wrapped in Sky” by Carmel McCrow; “Evolve”, which is curated by Georgina Griffiths will feature artists Keith Bailey, Lex Beardsell, Ian Robertson, Alan Howard, Cherylynne Holmes, and Jane Styles; and Chutespace will show “Loss” by Keith Bailey. At 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith, opens 6pm, March 1.

PHOTOACCESS has a new exhibition called “The View from Here”, which features 36 PhotoAccess members who have looked through their viewfinder to creatively explore unique perspectives of the places and spaces they encountered. Another exhibition at PhotoAccess, titled, “Horizons – Earth and Water” will show sun prints juxtaposed against digitally produced abstract micro landscapes by Marie Lund. PhotoAccess, Manuka Arts Centre, opens 6pm, March 2. 

CANBERRA artist Margaret Hadfield, has joined historian Dr Kathryn Spurling to open the new “Artistic Vision Gallery”, dedicated to finding discarded paintings in op shops, auctions and garage sales then rescuing, refurbishing and selling them.
