ANCA Gallery and Studios are taking contemporary art to the community in a retired Canberra bus. The once humble, orange and blue bus has been stripped of its seats and fitted out with gallery walls, lighting and new external paintwork by artist Riley Beaumont and will become a gallery in Garema Place, City Walk and Civic Square.

THE first “ANCA Bus” exhibition, “Enclose”, by textile artist Ruby Berry, opens in Garema Place at 12pm, Saturday, November 3. Everyone is welcome to view the art and chat to artists.

CAPO’s annual auction and award ceremony this year has a nautical theme this year to match its lakeside location. RECENT works by printmakers Frances Luke and Keedah Throssell will go on show at Gallery Bodalla, Thursday, November 1 until December 2. QUEANBEYAN-Palerang Regional Council’s Arts Trail is so big this year that it’s running for a second weekend, this time in the Braidwood region from 10am-4pm, Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4. GOOD news for Queanbeyan is the opening of a bright yellow new house/gallery, “The Queanbeyan Hive”, opposite the Council chambers at 274 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan.

“MADE of Holes” and its accompanying community collaboration, “Wayforming”, offer a local voice in conversation with Japanese architect Kengo Kuma’s installation “Namako”, an ephemeral architecture project on Aspen Island commissioned for this year’s DESIGN Canberra Festival. The public will be invited to collaborate with artist Lucy Irvine in the making of an installation connecting to Lake Ginninderra. Belconnen Arts centre, 10am–2pm, November 3, 10 and 17. M16 has artist Jodie Cunningham in a floor talk, discussing her exhibition, “Bloom”, at M16 Artspace, Blaxland Crescent, Griffith, 1pm, Thursday November 1. All welcome.

ARTIST Heike Hahner will plant hundreds of red handmade paper roses in Braidwood. The idea for the red rose trail was inspired by a Chaucer poem and also Max Dulumunmun Harrison, a Yuin elder and teacher. The rose walk is dedicated to “The love for all things”. From the Community Gardens to the Judith Wright Gardens next to the golf course, 10am-4pm, November 3 and 4. All welcome.

THE annual Canberra Potters open day is on again with demonstrations, hands-on activities, exhibitions, shop sales, open studios, trade, information tables and “the alchemy of the Raku kiln”, at Watson Arts Centre, Aspinall Street, Watson, from 11am-4pm this Saturday, November 4. All welcome.

FOR more than 20 years, the Ulladulla Guest House Gallery has been promoting and supporting local artists. IN “Living Water: Journeying with inks”, artist Ella Whateley draws on the ancient traditions of Chinese brush work, interpreted through the lens of European abstraction. The works embody Whateley’s travel and learnings around Taiwan. Whateley is currently a visiting fellow at the School of Art and Design at ANU, she undertook an artist-in-residence program at the National Taiwan University of Arts earlier this year.  ANU, Australian Centre on China in the World, Friday, November 2 to January 11, weekdays, 9am to 5pm – Note that ANU will be closed from December 25 to January 2.
