“SUITCASE Rummage” is a mini scaled market supporting emerging artists, crafters and second-hand marketeers. Focused on handmade, recycled and up-cycled products —sold from a suitcase — it will be at the Art, Not Apart Festival in NewActon, 1pm-7pm, Saturday, March 17.

THE 2018 exhibition of “Australian Plants as Bonsai” will show off over 30 works by Canberra Bonsai Society’s artists and interstate visitors. Guided walks and demonstrations will be held as part of the event. “ART in the Gardens” is the 11th annual art exhibition of work by the botanic artists of the Australian National Botanic Gardens, raising money to support the gardens. Visitors’ Gallery, until April 15, 9.30am-4.30pm daily. Admission is free and all paintings are for sale.

THE National Gallery of Australia is holding a two-hour interactive workshop incorporating vocal exercises, meditation and automatic writing, as a way of gaining insight into the working process of contemporary Australian artist Angelica Mesiti, whose exhibition is on showing in the NGA’s contemporary galleries until April 18. QUEANBEYAN Art Society’s “Abstract and Abstraction” exhibition is running until works are for sale at the society’s gallery under the bridge in Trinculo Place, Queanbeyan, end of March. 

MARCH is Endometriosis Awareness Month, so photo-artist Margaret Kalms is mounting a fundraising exhibition inspired by experiences of 26 women sufferers of the illness. The event will also show “RED”, a film of dancer Liz Lea, a talk by researcher Melissa Parker, a talk about alternative therapies, and a presentation by Jessica McGowan from Canberra Endometriosis Network, with a fashion parade.
