AS part of the Art Not Apart Festival, the Edinburgh Avenue stone wall in front of the Shine Dome will be home to the Artery, 100 metres of Canberra street art, which will remain mounted on the wall until the end of April. “SUITCASE Rummage” is a mini scaled market supporting emerging artists, crafters and second-hand marketeers. Focused on handmade, recycled and up-cycled products —sold from a suitcase — it will be at the Art, Not Apart Festival in NewActon, 1pm-7pm, Saturday, March 17.

ARTISTS Carmel McCrow (Gallery 1A – “Wrapped in Sky”), Ian Robertson (Gallery 1B – part of the group exhibition “Evolving”) and Keith Bailey (Part of “Evolving” and also Gallery 2’s – “Loss”) will all give floor talks about their recent work. THE 2018 exhibition of “Australian Plants as Bonsai” will show off over 30 works by Canberra Bonsai Society’s artists and interstate visitors. Guided walks and demonstrations will be held as part of the event. Crosbie Morrison Building, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 9.30am–4.30pm, Saturday, March 17 and 9.30am–4pm, Sunday, March 18.

“ART in the Gardens” is the 11th annual art exhibition of work by the botanic artists of the Australian National Botanic Gardens, raising money to support the gardens. Visitors’ Gallery, until April 15, 9.30am-4.30pm daily. Admission is free and all paintings are for sale.

THE National Gallery of Australia is holding a two-hour interactive workshop incorporating vocal exercises, meditation and automatic writing, as a way of gaining insight into the working process of contemporary Australian artist Angelica Mesiti, whose exhibition is on showing in the NGA’s contemporary galleries until April 18. The workshop starts at the information desk, 10.30am–12.30pm, Saturday, March 17. Bookings to nga.gov.au

QUEANBEYAN Art Society’s “Abstract and Abstraction” exhibition is running until works are for sale at the society’s gallery under the bridge in Trinculo Place, Queanbeyan, end of March. 

MARCH is Endometriosis Awareness Month, so photo-artist Margaret Kalms is mounting a fundraising exhibition inspired by experiences of 26 women sufferers of the illness. The event will also show “RED”, a film of dancer Liz Lea, a talk by researcher Melissa Parker, a talk about alternative therapies, and a presentation by Jessica McGowan from Canberra Endometriosis Network, with a fashion parade.
