Arts / Men’s choir sings the old, new and quirky

Canberra Men’s Choir
CANBERRA Men’s Choir will be singing a selection from their repertoire of songs old, new, and quirky at this week’s Wesley Music Centre’s “Lunchtime Live” series.

The Choir, which lives by the motto, “Let all men sing”, welcomes membership from men who would like to experience the joys of singing. It is non-auditioned and welcomes those who enjoy singing regardless of their musical experience, age or ability and meets regularly at Harmonie German Club on Mondays, with musical director and singer Leanne McKean and accompanist Tim Allan.

Led by musical director Leanne McKean, the choir will also be holding an obligation-free open night for interested men at the Harmonie German Club from 7.30pm to 9pm on Monday, July 23.

As well, there’ll be a three-hour workshop at the same club from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday, July 29, for those who want to find their voice. Such workshops are usually very popular and give singers a boost, with valuable tips and techniques for men of any age who may be interested in singing.

The choir’s vice president, Alan Bainbridge says: “We are a group of men, any age, interested in enjoying singing together and producing the best possible sound.”

“Let All Men Sing”, Canberra Men’s Choir, 12.40pm to 1.20pm, Wednesday, July 11. No bookings required, tickets at the door. Inquiries about the choir to canberramenschoir@gmail.com.
